This is relevant for everyone taking the course.

What many people don't realize is that Mindfulness comes from a warrior tradition.

Throughout the teachings that date back thousands of years, there are numerous military examples and analogies.

As the teachings have passed down, many people have de-emphasized this aspect of the teaching thinking that it is too intense and not applicable to lay people in their day to day life.

I, however, find these teachings quite inspiring, and if you serve in the military or are a veteran, you will find this training helpful in working with the stresses you experience both during and after combat.

" One may conquer a thousand men in a thousand battles. But the person who conquers just one person, which is one’s own self, is the greatest conqueror."
Dhammapada 103

"Better a patient person than a warrior, one with self-control than one who takes a city."
Proverbs 16:32
